Foundation Collection (Nov 2011)

Get ready! Today’s post is going to be lengthly but I think it will be worthwhile and help alot of you out there who have been curious about various types of foundations. There will be lots of links everywhere to reviews I have done for these products so look out for those sneaky links!

So let’s talk foundation, it’s my favourite makeup item since I have long battled with skin issues.

A quick few points about my own skintype.
  • Very breakout prone, large visible pores around the center of my face
  • Combination skintype with oily forehead but also dry patches, easily dehydrated
  • Neutral/pale yellow undertone (click here to see a list of all my foundation matches from other brands)

I prefer foundations that have a satin to glowy finish as I feel it looks the most beautiful on the skin for a day to day wear, it’s fresh for younger skin but also very forgiving on mature skin as well. A good foundation should stand well on its own, without the help of primers and powders, which I consider “extras” because this way I will know the true effectiveness of the product. Long lasting ability is not the greatest concern for me but my foundations have to feel comfortable on the skin.

Now that we’ve covered the basics,
    let’s jump into the video!

Review: Lancome wows with Teint Miracle!

        Hello Everyone,
Another popular product today to share with you, Lancome’s Teint Miracle foundation! This can be said to be one of Lancome’s most exciting releases in the past year. As I am not all fond of their mascaras (though they hold the top selling mascara in the prestige cosmetics market), I think they have a good shot with their base makeup products. I was thrilled to see this being used by a couple of makeup bloggers and even more excited after seeing the demos on HSN.

        Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation
First and foremost, you can’t resist the beauty that is Juila Roberts. I think Lancome’s choice for the spokes model for this foundation is spot on. Sure, there is Photoshop and a team of beauty experts behind this ad to “enhance” her look, I still think that Julia represents the aesthetic that Teint Miracle is trying to sell.

        Lancome bottle cap

If you aren’t a Roberts fan, well then I still think that the design team at Lancome did a fantastic job with the look and feel of the product. Classic, simple and somehow very elegant without looking too dated. The iconic Lancome flower tops the lucite cap as you can see here.

        Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation

Meant to produce flawless yet natural results on the skin, Lancome claims several new technological developments with this foundation. Here’s what Lancome has to say about this….

Light emanates from the most beautiful skin. Now, reproduce it.

With Aura-Inside™ technology, Lancôme invents its 1st foundation that recreates the true natural light of perfect skin. Its unique weightless texture provides perfect buildable coverage with a bare sensation. Instantly, complexion appears lit-from-within, visibly flawless.

        • Aura-Inside™ technology
        • 10 times less powdery fillers
        • Liquid Light Essence “liquid micro mirrors”
        • 37% pure water and soothing rose extract calms the skin
        • Oil-free, fragrance-free formula
        • SPF 15

        Buildable/Moderate Coverage
        True-to-Skin Natural Finish
        Suitable for sensitive skin. Oil-free. Fragrance-free. Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist-tested.

        My Video Review
        Before/After swatches
        My Shade: Buff 2 (w)

        Lancome Teint Miracle foundation--before-after

        • Reduced redness overall
        • Evened skintone to a uniform shade
        • Reasonably good match to my neck colour
        • Natural finish, felt thin and comfortable on the skin
        • Not at all greasy and no obvious shine to the skin afterwards

        What about Lancome’s own claims?
Did it live up to what it said?

        • Enhances skin’s natural light. The complexion appears flawless, full of life – as if lit-from-within (true)
        • Bare skin sensation, correction with translucency for a natural finish, as if matter-free (true)
        • 18 hour hydration (decent)
        • Diminishes redness for a more uniform complexion (VERY TRUE)
        • Non-irritating/doesn’t cause break-outs (true)
        • Protects skin from UV damage (N/A)

        lancome-- teint miracle-ingredients

        In short…
        • Recommended for most skintypes unless extremely oily or extremely dry
        • No breakouts or skin issues after use
        • Medium coverage and spread well without loosing opacity
        • Great for all ages, from younger age group to mature skin
        • Comfortable feel though not long lasting (try primer and powder)
        • Slightly rose scent enhances the application experience
        • Dries to a sophisticated sheen on the skin, not too flashy but not matte either

I think beyond the longevity factor, this product by Lancome has really impressed me. The texture and feel of it is quite perfect and it certainly gives a brightened look to the complexion, I can see myself reaching for this one often. It has a strange reminder to my beloved CHANEL Pro-Lumiere but slightly less creamy and better suited for combination oily skin. Both are in my top list!

Leave me your thoughts on this product if you’ve tried it!

[did you spot the special intro for my SanFran series?]

A close up look at some of the items!

        Bare Escentual BUXOM PASSPORT SET

        Sephora Bare Escentuals--Buxom kit
I never thought thought that I would actually be so excited about a Sephora insider gift to actually trade in 500pt for it but this one is pretty promising. Can’t say no to a cute pink gloss and a nudy-lipstick.
Oh Sephora you hit me in my Achilles ankle right there!

Victoria Secret: BIG SMOOCH Plumping Gloss Duo
        Victoria Secret--Big Smooch lipgloss

This had got to be one of the cutest things I’ve encountered in a long time. I adore the colour combo and although it doesn’t tingle, this product DOES make your lips extra juicy and feels great to wear too! Now I wonder why I didn’t also get the nude colour too >.>”

        NAIL INC. FALL Nail Colours

        Nail Inc. Fall2011 Collection

Ahhhh….the beginning of my FALL nail collection, though I do own a few *similar* colours to these, I was really intrigued by this new brand and mainly wanted to test out the formulation. What I CAN say so far is that I love the smaller bottle size, who can use up a 15ml polish anyways before it dries up?
The 10ml is actually a pretty good idea in my opinion!
        Thats it for today.
Stay tuned for more SanFran updates ^-^
