Event | BIOTHERM Preview & Life Plankton Essence

Last week I had the pleasure of attending Biotherm’s very first Westcoast blogger event. The venue was a penthouse suite overlooking Granville Island and the room was decked in the brand’s iconic crisp blues and whites.
(Pssst… see that lady in green? That’s Jayne from Cosmetic Proof.)

Chilled blueberry drinks in hand, we were introduced to a presentation of Biotherm’s long skincare history involving the isolation and utilization of health healing plankton extracts that’s been at the heart of the brand.

I was thrilled at the opportunity to have a personal skin analysis with a custom developed machine that was able to measure the condition of skin based on moisture, oil and elasticity levels matched with the appropriate age bracket.. It was time to see if all these years of being skin conscious really paid off. My results revealed dehydration (48/100), normal oil production (54/100) and surprisingly great elasticity (83/100). This confirmed what I’ve always thought about my skin, it needs more water!

Luckily, Biotherm’s new product can help with that among with a few other pesky issues like dull skin tone, blemishes and scarring. Life Plankton Essence is a product 15yrs in the making that contains a concentrated 5% of the skin healing extracted dubbed as “life plankton”. In research, this breakthrough patented ingredient has shown effectiveness in lessening skin sensitivity and discomforts while helping to promote skin regeneration, leading to healthy beautiful glowing skin.
Life Plankton Essence can be used in place or in conjunction with your daily toner and serum. The watery texture is similar to the Asian (mostly Japanese) concept of “skin conditioners” if you’ve been dabbling in overseas products. It will be available as a Sephora exclusive launching at the end of the month.
Look out for a comprehensive review on this and a few other Biotherm products coming up in the next month. I’m trying some natural skincare at the moment but this is right up next in line.
Who’s excited?
