It’s probably not often that you ask “can you eat it?” when it comes to shopping for your next lip product but I’m beginning to think it might be a very reasonable idea. Of all the beauty products which a woman puts on herself on a daily basis, we are quite literally eating away our lipsticks, balms and glosses. Faced with this somewhat disheartening thought and desperately in need of a new lip balm in my life I went searching and happened upon Hurraw!

Hurraw came into my life with my latest iHerb order (video here
) and to be frank I haven’t heard a whisper about this brand before then. While browsing the rows of lip balm options, Hurraw caught my eye with its unconventional flavours like green tea, chai spice and moon balm…yes, moon balm and I’ll have to try that one next.
Packaged in an oval shaped twist up tube, this little balm smells amazingly like green tea. Not the synthetic variety that’s overly perfumed and slightly sickly but a relaxing and welcoming kind of green tea that had me pouting my lips at random hours of the day, albeit inconspicuously, just to get a little whiff of the scent. The secret to this as I later found in the ingredients was real matcha powder.
With natural oils replacing commonly used beeswax, the balm applied very smoothly on the lips in an almost melting sensation. The finish is moist and borderline glossy though this may differ slightly depending on the variation of balm you choose. For daily use I find it to be a nice finish when I don’t feel like wearing any lip colour but want a little something to finish off my look. Lasting power runs about 2-3hrs before I need to reapply though I am often caught smothering this on because it just feels lovely.

THE FINAL VERDICT
For those with extremely dry and chapped lips, this won’t perform as a treatment product however I find it to be the perfect feel and protection for basic care. In fact I prefer this over the ever popular Burt’s Bees balms (reviewed
) and the EOS lip balms (reviewed
) which sit at approximately the same price point. While these humble little Hurraw balms don’t have any multi-functional miracle claims, it does its simple job excellently and it is quite literally, good enough to eat.
