I've had my eyes on the Laneige White Plus Renew Original Essence for a while now, and would have bought it already if the product didn't contain alcohol. I've heard a lot about alcohol's drying and 'pro- aging' effects when in makeup and skincare products and I am keen to know your opinion on it- is its presence in the ingredients list worth forgoing the product for? Should I be worried about how the alcohol content in a product (like the original essence) will affect my skin in the long term? I will be thrilled to hear the opinion of someone with far more makeup experience and knowledge than me 🙂

Very good question! Though I'm afraid I just don't have the bio-chem background to answer it from a scientific point of view. I do try to avoid alcohol heavy products when I can find more suitable replacements (case the point Clinique Clarifying Toner, N.American version is notoriously alcohol laden) but I'm not going to shun every single product with a bit of alchol in it if you know what I mean. I think another factor to consider is that alcohol does evaporate so if it's not in heavy quantities in a product, exactly how much negative affect will linger on the skin? I don't have direct answer to this either but it's certainly something to ponder over.
