Review:: Tony Moly Luminous Pure Aura CC Cream + Video

The time has finally arrived everyone! Welcome to my very first CC Cream review, I must say this was a rather daunting adventure to delve into as there seems to be much expectation on these products and everyone had been questioning whether or not they were really going to deliver skin miracles.

The Tony Moly CC Cream was one of the first to become available in the international market and despite hearing things here and there about the Rachel K, this was still the one that really intrigued me at first glance. Of course I also really liked their concept of a paraben free, mineral oil free formula and so I jumped right in.

Below is a closer look at how the “colour adjusting” technology works. I drew on my hand using a marker so my camera would have something to focus on but this will also give you a baseline for the coverage.

My before vs after photo (below) is taken on a cloudy day in the shade indoors. I find these lighting situations pulls a bit more red from my skin and tends to emphasis uneven skin texture more than usually. (Might have to go back to my purple bathroom background next time.) As you can see the coverage is light so that the red spot on my nose is still visible yet it does work to brighten darker areas around my mouth and forehead for a better blend with my chest.
Here’s a look at the CC Cream again in various lighting conditions (below), again I don’t have anything on as base and no powder either, though I do have a tiny bit of concealer under the eyes. As you can see the finish and glow factor varies depending on your lighting situation, the one on the left with my reflector (similar to what flash photography might do) picks up more pearl sheen than in the natural window lighting on the right. The two photos were taken on the same day, same makeup but different lipstick.

I also managed to snag myself a volunteer to test this on a slightly darker skin tone so you have have a better idea of how it blends. Worn as a solo product I think this would be alright for those with pale-light skin to a light-medium any darker that you’d likely have to pair this with another product on top to take out the white cast. Do note however that it takes a minute or two for this product to fully settle on your skin and reach its final look.

I can’t say that I am completely in love with this product as I feel this isn’t the most compatible with my skin condition however I will say that I am in love with the “look” of this product when worn. For those who do not have breakouts or pore issues I think this will be a very nice addition to your daily makeup routine for that “wow, look at her skin” glow. I’ll still keep this around and likely try to wear it as often as possible because it’s just such an easy product to pop on and go.

Recommended for: Dry to slightly oily skin that desires a light skin enhancing coverage with skin balancing and moisturizing properties. Mature skin and those wanting a more youthful glow will likely also really enjoy this one.
